My (many *) Great Uncle Charles wrote a book some years ago called 'On the Origin of Species' which puts forward what has come to be known as the theory of evolution.
Evolution is an important concept and one which has great relevance to the industry we work in today, as time goes on arrays do generally get better and each generation of array is better than the previous. New features come and are incorporated into various products, things change. Evolution's impact spreads beyond the physical and also impacts behaviours; we evolve behaviours which reflect the environment in which we live and work.
Then we get the various branches of the industry competing with each other; trying to spread their progeny throughout the data-sphere. They come up with all kinds of ways of trying to convince us that their product is better than the competitors; the latest wheeze is the guarantee!! I liked TSA's take on this but I am going to summarise even more succinctly;
'Your new array is better than my old array!'
and
'If I knew what I know now, I would have done things differently!'
